This is a super easy gift idea!

All you need is-

A coworker went to Thailand last year and gave me these placemats! They are very nice, but didn’t go with my décor!

Perfect for a clutch/ make-up bag

First step is to figure out how big you want your bag to be. Depending on your fabric, iron or flatten at desired size.

Next you’ll want to mark where you want your button to go.

Mark on the top flap and the second layer. Hand sew on the second layer, which is the bottom portion of your placemat.

After you’ve sewed your button on take the top part of the bag/placemat and pinch it together where the button would come through and a make a slit. Then glue the fabric on each side of the slit together, so that it won’t fray. After the glue dries cut the frayed edges.

Then glue the bottom fold of the placemat. Make sure that you line up the two seams evenly. This way it looks like you sewed them!

Glue your sequins or ribbon on the back, which is the middle section of the placemat.

Vola your handy dandy bag is completed!

Here are some better pictures of the the button hole after I’ve glued the edges and trimmed the frayed edges!

I know I couldn’t stop! I found the holders for the chopsticks that came with the placemats!

I thought perfect for brush holders!

I did all the same steps except I cut the chopstick holders in half. I glued the edges that were cut and cut the frayed edges. Then I glued it to the top placemat! It works perfect I also thought about stamping an initial for the person that I’m giving it to!

Oh the possibilities!
