Prayers For Jaidyn Lyric

Click the pictures above to check out their blog and Jaidyn's progress!

Jaidyn Lyric is my best friends Jaime's little girl who is 3 years old. She was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in August 2011.She's truly being a strong little girl. I was able to visit her and her mom in White Rock, BC Canada. Jaidyn gets her treatments every Thursday.

We went to the Children's Hospital on September 15th, 2011. The nurses, doctors, and staff at the hospital are truly amazing. Both Jaime and Jaidyn are troopers. Jaidyn has a port where she gets her (butterfly) inserted that needs to get watered while she's at the hospital. This is what they use to put medicine, fluids, draw blood, or get a blood transfusion. This means that she has a pole that needs to be toted around with her in the playroom. She'll get blood drawn for them to test. Then she goes underwater, the room that is painted like a undersea scene. This is where she gets put under (get the connection here) and gets her lumbar punch where they put the methotrexate directly into the bone marrow. She then is funny from the medications and has to lay down for an hour so that the medicine doesn't go into her spinal fluid and can cause a headache. Then they wait around to see what her labs results are and most likely she'll need a blood transfusion. Which that take about 1 hr to get the blood and about 3-4 hours for the transfusion. So that Thursday at the hospital equals a long day.

With Canadian health care most things are covered. Some medications, certain test, and living costs are not covered. Jaime is a single parent that is unable to work because Jaidyn can't go to daycare because of her immune system.

A day for Jaime and Jaidyn looks like this, possibly getting blood tests done, getting medicines from the store, shopping at the grocery store. Jaidyn doesn't have much energy because of lack of immune, appetite, and is generally weak. Jaime most times has to carry Jaidyn everywhere she goes. The hospital or lab charges parking is about 4$ an hour which adds up. Children's hospital is about 45 miles one way. The food at the hospital cost at least 8 bucks a meal. So needless to say they both are in need of some financial help. They do have social workers that are helping them with gas cards and some money to get them by, but it's not enough.

Please help them in any way you can, prayers, words, money, they need your help.
